ASHRAE Technical Committee 8.8 – Refrigerant System Controls and Accessories

ACTIVITIES

TC 8.8 is concerned with refrigerant flow controls and accessories (excluding electronic controls and control theory) for heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigerating uses. Our members offer their wide knowledge on these topics in many different Society activities, through various subcommittees.

The Committee sponsors Research Projects, which are a way to further knowledge in our field.

We provide valuable assistance in the writing and revision of those chapters in the Handbook for which we are responsible.

We often sponsor one or more Seminars at the Society National Meetings. This is a good opportunity to let others know what TC 8.8 is doing.

Finally, we are also involved with the writing and revision of standards. In particular, TC 8.8 is responsible for:

Standard 17 (MOT Capacity of Thermostatic Refrigerant Expansion Valves)

Standard 28 (MOT Flow Capacity of Refrigerant Capillary Tubes)

Standard 153 (MOT Capacity Rating of Four Way Reversing Valves)

Standard 158.1 (MOT Capacity Rating of Refrigerant Solenoid Valves)

Standard 158.2 (MOT Capacity Rating of Refrigerant Pressure Regulating Valves)

Refrigeration Handbook Chapter 44

The subcommittee meetings are where the action is, so don't miss them. They are a good way for TC members to become more closely involved with the activities of the committee.
